5) Setup Epson Print Utility:

For this example, a NO–COLOR–ADJUSTMENT workflow is outlined for Photoshop CS1 PS8 under Jaguar 10.2 Panther 10.3 Tiger 10.4.
For Macintosh Operating System 9 instructions, please go
here gballard.net.
For Photoshop CS2, Photoshop 9, PS9, please go
here gballard.net.

No–Color–Adjustment workflow turns printer color management (and ColorSync) off and sets Photoshop's "Adobe (ACE)" CMS to perform the SourceSpace–to–PrintSpace Conversion (based on the printer utility's Source Space and Print Space settings).

The CONVERSION is set under the following two settings:

Open Epson Print Utility: Photoshop> File> Print With Preview

Note: If your Print With Preview doesn't look like this, you may be using the GIMP driver, in which case you will need to delete the GIMP printer and SetUp the Epson printer. Here is a download Gimp-Print Uninstaller link gimp-print.sourceforge.net.

Check Show More Options> Color Management:

Source Space> Document> (will note the Tagged, Embedded space, AdobeRGB (1998), for example). In other words, it will note the Document's present ColorSpace, SourceSpace.

Print Space> Profile> (select the specific printer/paper/ink ICC Profile, "SP 2200 Premium Luster_PK," for example, if printing to an Epson 2200 printer, on Epson Premium Luster paper with Epson OEM Photo Black ink set. 1270, 1280, 1290, 2200, 3000, 7000, 7600, 9600, 10600 all have their own specific profiles for their papers and ink sets.

Intent> Relative Colorimetric (or Perceptual), Black Point checked.

From there, click on Page Setup...:

Next click on Print Settings and drag down to Color Management.

In Color Management set: No Color Adjustment, then Print:

What is happening with No Color Adjustment:

Photoshop's Adobe (ACE) Color Management System (CMS) is Converting the document's present ColorSpace directly into the Target ICC Profile entered in Print Space> Profile.

In other words:
The Epson Color Management (and ColorSync) are OFF, and Photoshop's Adobe (ACE) CMS is Converting the file directly into the ICC Profile or ColorSpace entered in Epson's Print Space> Profile.

Note:
If after confirming The Chain, the Epson is still printing bizarre, try:

Adobe's genius Russell Brown has produced free movies QuickTime tutorials for Epson Stylus 2200 Printing (MAC ONLY!) halfway down his linked Tips page, including: "Printing from Photoshop CS" - "Printing from Adobe Illustrator CS" - "Printing from Adobe InDesign CS" - "Printing from Adobe Acrobat."
